Catedral de León is the main attraction of the city and you will pass by this amazing construction numerous times during your stay in León. Do take time out to explore the interior of this grand cathedral and buy tickets to explore the cathedral’s roof. If you don’t want shadows on your photos from up on the roof, try visiting when the sun is at its highest. Tickets can be bought at the back of the church, in front of the Mercado Central. The entrance is on the side of the José de Marcoleta street.

Visit the Museum of the Revolution and learn about Nicaragua’s revolutionary history, housed in the former headquarters of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

Discover contemporary Nicaraguan art at the Ortiz-Gurdián Art Foundation. The museum is located in two colonial-era buildings, which is worth a visit in its own right. Inside you’ll find paintings, sculptures, and other artwork by local and international artists.

From there the journey via the Pan-American Highway should take 1,5 to 2 hours. Here are several common methods to reach León:
